Hi, I'm Kalani.

I’m a Pulitzer Prize–winning journalist turned product strategist, helping newsrooms rethink how stories are built, delivered, and measured.

My work lives where storytelling meets strategy — connecting editorial vision, audience needs, and product development to make journalism stronger, smarter, and more sustainable.

I’ve spent my career bridging the craft of journalism with the systems that help it thrive. Today, I lead editorial product and strategy for MediaNews Group and Tribune Publishing, supporting more than 60 daily newsrooms as they collaborate, experiment, and build deeper relationships with their readers.

I focus on the intersection of storytelling, product, and data — developing tools, workflows, and strategies that make journalism more impactful, efficient, and accessible. Whether it’s product management, analytics, design, or experimentation, I help teams work better together and make cool s--- happen.

And as the next chapter unfolds — with AI reshaping how we create, distribute, and connect — I’m helping newsrooms explore what’s next: designing responsibly, working smarter, and keeping the mission of journalism at the center of it all.
